ACTOR & WRITER/DIRECTOR

Aki began his career as a trained actor, performing in major West End productions including Hairspray, West Side Story, Chariots of Fire, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Hair (Broadway cast) and The Empress for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Alongside his stage work, he also appeared as a dancer in international campaigns for Burberry and Armani, before moving into screen acting.

His film and television work includes roles in REAL, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Riot Club, Burning Men, A Moving Image, Faces,, as well as series such as Silent Witness, The Pursuit Of Love, Doctor Who , Sick of It , Defending the Guilty.

Alongside performing, Aki has developed a strong voice as a filmmaker. He co-founded the production company Small Long Productions, through which he has written, directed, produced, and starred in several projects. His short film SPILTreceived multiple festival nominations and was selected for distribution by Short of the Week. The company has since completed a further short film ‘The Cunning’ starring Gemma Arterton.

Aki made his feature-length debut as writer, director, and producer with REAL, which had it’s world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. The film had theatrical release through Picture House and he then sold it to Sky Cinema, BFI Player, and Film4. His work on REAL was also listed for three BIFA Awards, including Best Debut Director, Best Debut Screenwriter, the Raindance Discovery Award as well as Best Actor.

As an actor, Aki won Best Leading Actor at the British Urban Film Festival for FACES and received the Rising Star Award at the BBC Screen Nation Awards.

He recently finished in BBC’s Silent Witness as regular Gabriel Folukoya and continues to develop new work across film and television. His second feature, HUM, has been optioned by ME & YOU Productions,, and he is developing the television series Little Faith with Channel 4, alongside projects with Lionsgate, Eleven Films, Sky, and BBC Studios.
